Family Court Conference 2018 – Hearing Children’s Voices

Planning is well underway for this year’s Family Court Professional Conference on 12th June. The theme of the conference is “Hearing Children’s Voices” and content will focus on innovative ways of working with children and young people.

The Family Court section is working with Writing East Midlands and the Family Justice Young People Board to develop the programme for the day and speakers will give presentations on providing creative input and methods of engaging creativity with children and young people, as well as providing top tips for professionals working in this area.

Workshops will include:

  • Writing East Midlands
  • Integrate UK, who run workshops for secondary schools on a wide range of challenging topics, using our youth friendly accessible videos
  • Cafcass Legal – looking at issues around competency and separate representation for young people.
  • Understanding Child Development (TBC)

The conference takes place on Tuesday 12th June (10.30am to 4.30pm) at the Carrs Lane Conference Centre, Birmingham, B4 7SX

Although this the conference is aimed at professional practitioners working in the Family Courts, all Napo members are welcome to attend if they have an interest in this subject. Additionally, non-members are welcome, but they will be a registration charge of £30 (though anyone joining Napo at the conference will be reimbursed the charge).
Members can claim travel costs back from the Section and in some circumstances might be eligible to claim overnight accommodation.

You can get a registration form from Jacqui Paryag or download one from the Napo website.
