HM Inspectorate of Probation inspects probation and youth offending services across England and Wales. The Inspectorate has launched two new resources: ‘Effective case supervision for adults’ and ‘The evidence base – probation services.’
These easy-to-use resources provide evidence and support for probation practitioners, researchers and other professionals to deliver high quality probation services.
‘Effective case supervision for adults’ illustrates what ‘good’ looks like against the Inspectorate’s standards, by breaking down how practitioners should assess, plan, implement and review cases.
This guide further demonstrates how probation practitioners can strengthen their case supervision skills, using real-life examples and ex-service user feedback.
‘The evidence base – probation services’ explores the evidence behind high-quality probation practice.
Collating key findings from research and inspections across a range of topics, this new resource outlines how and why quality probation delivery works. The evidence base explores a range of topics including: models and principles, organisational delivery and the supervision of service users.
Both resources will be updated regularly. Please check out and share these resources with your colleagues and networks.
